CBSE CLASS 10th Science Chapter 6 Biology Life Processes

Life Processes

Living Being are normally considered beings who show signs of life like breathing, walking etc like Humans, animals etc, in case of plants growth/greenery of the plant is criteria to consider it as alive.

plant that is not visibly growing is still alive, and some animals can breathe without visible movement. So

using visible movement as the defining characteristic of life is not enough.

Cells are the smallest functional and structural unit of our body. They are the sub units of tissues. They perform the function of growth, metabolism, protein synthesis, etc .Group of cells constitute tissues.

Metabolism is a term that is used to describe all chemical reactions involved in maintaining the living state of the cells and the organism. It can be divided into 2 processes, 1. catabolic – the breaking down of compounds (for example, the breaking down of glucose to pyruvate by cellular respiration); or anabolic – the building up (synthesis) of compounds (such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids). Usually, catabolism releases energy, and anabolism consumes energy.

Over the time these cell structures may break so body needs to repair & maintain these cells to keep us alive.

6.1 WHAT ARE LIFE PROCESSES?

To keep human or animals alive cell structures needs to be repaired & maintained, this process requires energy which comes from Food.

Since these maintenance processes are needed to prevent damage and break-down, energy is needed for them. Process of transferring energy from food to inside body is called nutrition.

Glucose(C6H12O6)+O2 à Energy(atp)+H2O+CO2

This reaction takes place in Mitochondria (Power house of cells).

Process of taking oxygen to breakdown food into energy is called respiration.

High Energy Molecule is called ATP(Adenosine Tri Phosphate). It stores & releases energy for many cellular processes. It is found in mitochondria. C10H16N5O13P3

If a cell needs to spend energy to accomplish a task, ATP molecule splits of one of its 3 Phosphate becoming ADP(Adenosine Di Phosphate)C10H15N5O10P2. Energy holding that Phosphate is released & available to work for cell.

CBSE Class 10 Chemistry Chapter 3 Metals & Non Metals

Metals and Non-metals 3.1 PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 3.1.1 Metals The easiest way to start grouping substances is by comparing their physical properties Activity 3.1 ·         Take samples of iron, copper, aluminium and magnesium. Note the appearance of each sample. ·         Clean the surface of each sample by rubbing them with sand paper and note their appearance again. After rubbing with sand paper metal is shining. Metals, in their pure state, have a shining surface. This property is called metallic lustre. Activity 3.2 ·         Take small pieces of iron, copper, aluminium, and magnesium. ·         Try to cut these metals with a sharp knife and note your observations. ·         Hold a piece of sodium metal with a pair of tongs. CAUTION: Always handle sodium metal with care. Dry it by pres...

SITE ACCEPTANCE TEST

SAT (Site Acceptance Test) Site acceptance test is test to verify the Automation system like DCS (Distributed Control System) & Subsystems are well connected & communicate with each other without having any Hardware or software failure. SAT activity requires involvement of MAC Contractor, EPC Contractor, Subsystem Vendor.         MAC (Main Automation Contractor i.e., Honeywell, Yokogawa etc.) should prepare SAT procedure & submit to PMT (Project Management Team) for approval during CDR (Critical Design Review). DCS (Distributed Control System) SAT also includes Integration Test with various Sub System or Package PLC (programmable logic Controllers) EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) Contractor coordinates & manages Integration Test activity with sub system vendors. EPC ensures DCS is ready for SAT Like ensuring all Eng/HIS( DCS Engineering Stations), all HIS(Human Interface Station), All DCS System Cabinets(Pro...
